The film reflects the energy and hype surrounding the potential that the collaboration will transform the very essence of the luxury car design

Frame was engaged to create a teaser film to unveil the exciting news that Mercedes-Benz is collaborating with Virgil Abloh to unify the worlds of fashion and art with automotive.

Acclaimed American designer and entrepreneur Virgil Abloh brought his creative experimentation to the project. In a preview announcement, Virgil said working on the project was ‘a perfect chassis to interject modern artists ideas of what the future can be stylistically, within conceptual car design’.

Given the name Project Geländewagen, the artwork will modify and reinterpret the G-Class SUV, a robust off-road vehicle with a distinctive boxy silhouette, which was originally launched in 1979.

When talking about his collaboration and work on this project, Abloh said: “Mercedes-Benz is a brand that stands for luxury and exceptional performance. Truly a perfect chassis to interject modern artists’ ideas of what the future can be stylistically, within conceptual car design.”

Due to the current global pandemic, both Virgil Abloh and Mercedes-Benz have decided to auction off a home-scale replica of their distinctive artwork following the launch event, with all proceeds donated to an arts-centric charity to help support the arts industry during these challenging times.

The frenetic yet measured tone of this typo-driven film aims to reflect the energy and hype surrounding the potential that this collaboration could transform the very essence of the luxury car design as we know it.
