It’s been quite the week for KFC in the UK. The food chain’s shortage of chicken has spawned the temporary closure of many of its restaurants and some
very memeable content.
But all jokes aside, a chicken shop running out of chicken is not exactly ideal - and that’s exactly what this full-page ad for the brand by Mother London addresses.
The print appeared in Friday morning’s edition of the Metro and offers “huge apologies” to customers and “endless thanks” to KFC employees. The real gem here though is above the heartfelt text, where that most famous of acronyms has been rearranged into something somewhat expletive but brilliantly playful. It really is fcking clever work from Mother, so much so that Andrew Bloch, Founder and Group Managing Director of Frank PR, dubbed the move on Twitter “
a masterclass in PR crisis management”.
