Elevit, MullenLowe, director Emma Scott and NM Productions teamed up to create a film that brings together two generations of mothers: pregnant daughters and their mums

Expectant mums have always had questions, lots of them! So, Elevit, MullenLowe, director Emma Scott and NM Productions teamed up to do something special and create a film that brings together two generations of mothers: pregnant daughters and their mums, to show that no matter the decade or what is going on in life, the one thing that remains true is the meaning of motherhood and the mothers love for their children.

The idea, directed by NM Talent’s Emma Scott, is simple but beautiful. Mothers and their pregnant daughters were asked the same questions about motherhood and family, first separately, then brought back together to watch each other's responses. The results are deeply heart-warming.

The film doesn’t just explore what’s changed (and what hasn’t) over the decades, it captures those timeless moments that make being a mum so special. It’s all about what really matters, being there for your child and giving them the best start in life possible.

And there is something that makes this film even more special. The film’s director, while bringing this  beautiful idea to life, was pregnant herself. This personal connection brought an extra poignancy to  the project, giving her a deep, emotional connection to the different themes of motherhood and the  future. You can feel that extra layer of care and understanding in the film. It’s a moving celebration of  motherhood, past, present, and future, because no matter how much things change, some things  always stay the same.

Emma Scott, director at NM Talent said, “Directing the Elevit films while eight months pregnant was an experience that truly brought everything  full circle for me. The agency and NM were incredibly supportive, making sure I was comfortable and  taken care of, which made all the difference. It’s not always easy working in this industry while pregnant,  but this project felt like a perfect alignment of timing and purpose. Being on my own pregnancy journey  allowed me to connect with the women in the project in a way I hadn’t anticipated. I found myself  naturally tapping into their stories with a deeper sense of empathy, and it felt like I was simply part of  the conversation, rather than just behind the camera.

The films came together in such a genuine and heartfelt way. From the warm, minimal set design to  the close-up shots capturing real moments of emotion between mothers and daughters, it felt like  everything clicked into place. I approached each interview with a lot of the same questions and  emotions I was personally experiencing, which helped create a relaxed and open atmosphere.  Watching the women share their stories and bond with one another was incredibly moving, and I felt  grateful to be a part of capturing that. It was a humbling experience, and I’m proud of how it turned  out honest, emotional, and centred around the love that connects us all.”
