Award-winning post house EXILE is proud to announce that acclaimed editors Katie Turinski and Grant Surmi are being promoted to partner. Katie and Grant will provide critical insight and creative leadership in their new roles at EXILE, working closely alongside current partners Shane Reid, Matt Murphy, Sasha Hirschfeld, CL Kumpata, and Kirk Baxter.

With nearly 20 years in the film industry, Katie Turinski’s work has spanned multiple forms and genres. Her credits include the Oscars Shortlisted Netflix Original The Speed Cubers, Saturday Night Live Seasons 47-48, multiple Super Bowl commercial campaigns, and the upcoming feature documentary Jesszilla. Katie’s advertising clients include Facebook, Google, Nike, Coca-Cola, Ford, Sony, Samsung, Delta, and Toyota. Before joining EXILE, Katie spent nine years at Joint, Wieden+Kennedy’s boutique post house.

“I found a truly special home here at EXILE almost seven years ago, and it has been an honour working alongside such incredibly talented and collaborative storytellers,” says Katie.

“I’m thrilled to be joining EXILE’s leadership team and excited to expand my contributions to the company.” Adds Sasha Hirschfeld, executive producer at EXILE NY, “It’s hard to imagine the New York office without Katie. She has always been so generous with her immense talent. We’re lucky to have her!”

Grant Surmi employs a varied editorial skillset which includes credits in TV and Film — Mindhunter, Tabloid, and House of Cards — as well as a long list of global advertising clients, including Dr. Pepper, Nike, HP, Miller Lite, Roku, Samsung, and Mattress Firm. He’s also edited music videos for artists including Eminem and Billie Eilish. Since joining EXILE in 2016 — only two years after the company’s launch — he’s been integral to the continued growth of the edit house.

“I really trust Grant as an editor,” says Kirk Baxter, editor and co-founder at EXILE. “Not only because of his skill with storytelling and the craft of editing, but also because his collaboration with directors and creatives is so effortless.”

Grant says, “EXILE is an extraordinary place that provides unique access and relationships to the best filmmakers and agencies in the world. It’s a group of extremely nice, like-minded, world-class editors passionate about film craft. Becoming a partner is an honour, and I’m excited to contribute my years of experience to help foster and grow our upcoming talent.”

“Katie and Grant are woven so deeply into the fabric of EXILE that it’s really organic that they should become partners,” says CL Kumpata, EP and co-founder at EXILE. “Both of their careers are soaring, and we look forward to even more growth in the future.”
