Music video & commercial director joins the roster

DNA is pleased to announce the addition of award-winning music video and commercial director Robert Hales.

UK born and raised, Hales began his creative career as an art director for London design companies and publishing houses, transitioning into music videos after becoming the art director for Nine Inch Nails (Nothing Records). He then went on to direct award-winning music videos for Switchfoot, Jet, Gnarls Barkley, Justin Timberlake, Tinie Tempah, Miley Cyrus, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, winning a Gospel Music Award, Communication Arts Design Awards, MTV VMAs, One Show Design Awards, Broadcast Design Association Awards, Tellys, a UK Music Video Award, a Virgin Media Music Award, and an MTV O Award. His video for Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy” earned him upwards of six awards, and was included in MoMA’s exhibition, “Spectacle: the Art and History of the Music Video.” Most recently, he directed Jack White’s “Would You Fight for my Love,” Death Cab for Cutie’s “Black Sun,” and Imagine Dragons’ “Shots.”

When he’s not directing music videos, Hales is on the commercial scene lensing campaigns for globally recognized brands including Toyota, Mazda, Smart Car, Southern Comfort, Microsoft, Motorola and Givenchy.

“We’re delighted to have Robert on our roster,” said DNA Executive Producer Missy Galanida. “It’s exciting to see all the ways his unique visual expertise amplifies the projects he takes on.”
