Curveball Films expands its small but mighty roster with two new additions. The company signed Joe Pernice and James Niebuhr this week.
Joe Pernice has been ranked on Business Insider’s 30 Under 30 list for Most Creative People in Advertising. His work has received top honours at Cannes Lions, One Show, The Andys, and AICP - where he won back-to-back (2015 and 2016) honours in the PSA category.
Joe says of joining Curveball, “I’m thrilled to be on the Curveball roster. Jack, Nic, and I go way back and I’ve directed a few projects with their non-roster company Five to Sixty. I consider the team old friends and am so excited to start creating and growing along with the company. I’ve been looking to become rostered for a while now and when Curveball approached me I knew I’d found a new and exciting home.”
“Joe is both an extraordinary talent and a stand-up guy.” says Jack Rosman, EP at Curveball. “He’s got a way of turning small, human moments into larger-than-life punchlines. Plus, the guy knows how to shoot food!”
James Niebuhr is an award-winning director based out of San Francisco. He regularly lends his creative skills to the tech world as a director and DP. He’s helmed campaigns for brands such as Meta, Logitech, Oura, Google, Levi's, and Mini Cooper, among others.
“We feel like James really embodies the Curveball ethos, in that all of his work has an unexpected twist or flourish that we look for.” Jack says, “We love what we brings to the table across a variety of genres.”
“When I met the Curveball team we just clicked immediately.” says James. “Our sensibilities and long-term goals are totally aligned. I’m really excited about what they’re building and eager to be a part of it — it’s a natural fit!
The signings bring Curveball’s roster up to six directors. The boutique roster has struck a balance between comedy and visual storytelling.
