Director Connor Carroll has signed with Curveball Films on the heels of releasing their first project together. Earlier this year, they partnered on an anthem film for Indiana University Health from Merge out of Kansas City.
“We couldn’t be happier to work with Connor,” says EP Jack Rosman. “And we feel the IU Brand Film is the perfect launchpad for our partnership. The treatment process was very competitive. Upon reading the script, we originally wanted to pitch a concept with a lot of dynamic movement. Sweeping camera moves, fun toys (i.e. a Trinity stabilizer) and a really up-tempo feel.”
At the 11th hour, they decided to change their tune. “The night before,“ says Carroll, “we totally reversed course. We pitched the idea of stillness, with minimal camera movement and purposefully composed tableaus. Our partners at Merge agreed that this was the best option.”
“It was a great way to kick off our working relationship,” added Rosman. “Connor shares our commitment to finding the absolute best creative in order to win a project. He’s clearly not afraid to throw out the first draft, and start from scratch.”
The IU Health campaign was played during the Indy 500 race this spring.
Carroll has made a name for himself telling human stories with a twist of wonderment. He has worked with brands such as Nissan, Bridgestone Tires, Tennessee State Parks, and ESPN. He lives in Nashville with his wife and daughter.
