This year while the lights are out during Earth Hour WWF and john st. are asking
people to take a Moment Of Darkness, a moment of environmental reflection on
climate change and our planet.
To help encourage people to take that “moment of darkness” William Shatner, Jason
Priestly, Roberta Bondar, Raine Maida, Jill Barber and more are sharing what they
will be thinking about during Earth Hour at MomentOfDarkness.ca. In short videos
we see celebrities and regular people alike share their personal thoughts about their
concerns and hopes for our planet.
People taking part in Earth Hour can also record or upload their own videos, through
mobile or webcam and share what they will be thinking about with other Canadians.
“Canada as a nation can play a big part in the climate change solution.” says David
Miller, WWF-Canada President and CEO. “Canadians and Canada have the
opportunity to choose a future where climate change is no longer a threat.”
“This year we thought it made sense to use the hour to reflect on what is happening
with climate change. The gesture of turning off the lights will hopefully be even more
of a symbol, a call to action”. Said Partner and Executive Creative Director Stephen
Jurisic.
The campaign will be live online at MomentOfDarkness.ca. There will also be TV
and radio spots echoing the messages of the online videos.
Earth Hour takes place on March 29th between 8:30pm and 9:30pm. What will you
be thinking about during your moment of darkness?
