D&AD Announces Second Set of Pencil Winners for 2015

178 Pencils awarded today with Leo Burnett Sydney in the lead

The second set of D&AD Pencil winners for 2015 are announced today, but entrants will have to wait until the Award Ceremony at Battersea Evolution on 21st May to find out which colour Pencil (Wood, Graphite, Yellow, White or Black) they’ve won.

178 Pencils were awarded on Day Two by juries in the Crafts for Advertising (18 Pencils), Crafts for Design (43 Pencils), Integrated and Innovative Media (27 Pencils), Magazine and Newspaper Design (28 Pencils), Mobile Marketing (14 Pencils) and White Pencil juries (48 Pencils)* categories.

Including awards from Day One, 234 Pencils have been awarded with more to be announced when judging finishes on Thursday. 


The Top 5 ranking countries by Pencils won so far are:

UK – 55 Pencils

US – 31

Brazil and Australia– 15 Pencils (joint 3rd)

France – 13 Pencils


The Top 5 ranking winners by Pencils won so far are:

Leo Burnett Sydney – 7 Pencils

New York Times - 6 Pencils

AlmapBBDO, adam&eveDDB, Wieden+Kennedy London and WIRED - 4 Pencils


All 234 pieces will appear in the 53rd D&AD Annual published later this year.

D&AD CEO Tim Lindsay commented: “'International entries to D&AD have gone up over 15% this year, which is a reflection of D&AD’s continued relevance in maturing creative markets like Brazil and India.

“The quality of craft in categories like Branded Content and Integrated is a real theme this year: an understanding that great creative can play a vital role in earning media is really coming through in the production value of much of the work.

“We’ve also seen a big increase in design work being entered across all categories – which I hope indicates that creative businesses at all levels of agency and studio size are thriving.”
