Inspired by the success of 2021’s Grand openings campaign for McDonald’s Canada, Cossette developed a new series of visuals and a toolkit for franchisees to celebrate the inauguration of new locations and the reopening of renovated restaurants across Canada.
Designed by Cossette, the visuals evoke the pleasure of celebrating by displaying a burst of confetti—a universal symbol of joyous occasions. Featured are iconic McDonald’s menu items like the legendary Big Mac, World Famous Fries, McFlurry, and Egg McMuffin.
“At McDonald’s, we like offering joy to our customers,” said Melissa Hains, director, field marketing at McDonald’s Canada. “The inauguration of restaurants is more than just an expansion, it’s a celebration. We want to welcome our customers with an invitation that embodies the festive spirit and friendly atmosphere of McDonald’s—a consistent message for all our establishments in Canada.”
“The challenge was to bring our visuals to life using an uncommon technique involving something in motion,” explained Alexandre Jutras, creative director at Cossette. “We used an ultra high-speed camera and a trampoline to shoot the brightly coloured confetti into the air, and the results were simply stunning: photos that are playful, modern and captivating, and perfectly represent the joy that McDonald’s Canada wants to spread.”
The visual elements are available in print for all new and renovated restaurants in Canada as of February 6, 2024.
