Mother has teamed up with directing duo the Layzell Bros to create 'We Love the Things You Hate' for IKEA.
The four short, animated films were crafted bespoke for social channels, combining succinct and humorous storytelling with thumb-stopping animation.
Each takes a different experience that people find frustrating and neatly demonstrates how IKEA can help us to avoid them. Hate sifting through the mountain of screws, washers, nuts and bolts some flat-pack furniture kits include? You can pay extra for assembly. Hate spending hours stuck in traffic trying to drive your new sofa home? You can have IKEA deliver it for you.
The Layzell Bros’ cheery animation aesthetic brings a charming lightness to these snappy stories. You might recognise the Blinkink directors’ colourful stylings from Harvey Nichols ‘
Shoplifters’ in 2015, when they superimposed expressive faces on CCTV footage of real thieves. It went on to win the Film Grand Prix at Cannes Lions.
