Almap BBDO tells the story of how a relationship with a cat opened up the world for a young girl with autism
This week, WHISKAS launched the first work for its new global campaign, “Feed Their Curiosity”. The campaign is based on the universal truth that natural, free-spirited curiosity is what makes cats special, so we need to nurture that with healthy food and proper care.
The film ‘Iris and Thula,’ was developed by Almap BBDO in Brazil and seeks to show why curiosity really matters. It is the first in what we expect to be a series of “Curious Cat Chronicles” based on real-life stories of curious cats. In this instance, it recreates the true story of Thula, a cat whose curiosity opened up the world for eight-year-old Iris Grace, an English girl diagnosed with a severe autism spectrum disorder (ASD) at age two. Through the relationship she developed with Thula, Iris gained new found confidence, began communicating and taking part in new activities including revealing an extraordinary talent for painting.
The film initially launches in Brazil, with plans to be rolled out in additional markets later this year.
