Editorial company Cartel welcomes award winning editor Michael ‘Middy’ Ofori-Attah for representation in the U.S.
Middy is consistently recognised for his sharp eye and thoughtful understanding of the intricacies and nuances of storytelling. His layered perspective has it’s roots in his Ghanaian heritage and experiences growing up in Toronto. Rhythm, music and sound design are at the heart of his craft. Growing up watching Ghanaian films with his mom, he thought Nollywood films were seriously unserious. Sound was used differently and felt inspired by kung-fu films, with heavy slaps and impact sounds to dramatise scenes. This began to inform his visual language and help inspire his own creative identity.
Middy explains, “From the moment I met the Cartel team I felt a genuine kinship, that these are the people I want to be with as I continue along with my career. I'm inspired by the type of work that consistently comes from Cartel and I am honoured to be a part of it.”
He continues to work with a wide range of high-profile directors including Hubert Davis, Adrijan Assoufi, Jackson Tisi, Joshua Kissi, and Travis Hanour, and with top agencies Wieden+Kennedy, 72andSunny, Droga5, and Innocean Worldwide.
His work for Nike, the NFL, Gatorade, Montblanc, Delta and Hyundai has garnered a Gold Cannes Lion and Webby Awards for Best Viral Campaign and Best Travel & Adventure Video.
Beyond advertising Middy worked on ‘UNINTERRUPTED’s Top Class’ for Prime Video, and ‘Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson’ for Netflix, which was recently nominated at the AICP 2025 Post Awards.
Lauren Bleiweiss, managing director of Cartel added, “We are thrilled to welcome Middy to our roster. His work, energy and unique perspective compliment our existing stellar team and we are very excited to be a part of this new phase of his career.”
