'You either Cannes or you Cannt'

After its overwhelming success last year, the CANNT Festival will be back again on 18th – 22nd June to showcase and reward the best creative talent in the UK.

Whilst Creative Directors from across the industry head to Cannes Lions, top London agencies, including LBi, Dare, Fortune Cookie, Albion, Kitcatt Nohr Digitas, Work Club, Poke and Skive/Soup, as well as Plan B Studio, Hyper Island, SCA 2.0, Irresistible Films and many more are inviting anyone who isn’t going to Cannes to the CANNT Festival - a week-long celebration of creativity hosted at venues across East London.
With Dare’s Creative Director, Laura Jordan-Bambach, and LBi’s Executive Creative Director Simon Gill once again at the helm, the CANNT Festival will bring a little bit of the Cannes experience to those not lucky enough to go. It’s another way in for agencies and companies to say ‘thank you’ to the ever-increasing number of people involved in today’s creative gems – from production houses, designers and creative teams to directors and innovation wizards.

“I'm incredibly excited about the enthusiasm for CANNT we've seen this year; and the broad mix of events we have in planning. We're hoping that 2012 will be the year that CANNT really breaks through into the mainstream, and becomes a broader, industry-wide festival; open to all to participate and attend.” – Laura Jordan-Bambach, Creative Director at Dare

This year, the Festival will once again centre around a series of entertaining and educational events hosted by advertising and other creative luminaries. The line-up already includes an inter-agency dog show organised by Albion; a lunchtime nightclub hosted by Hyper Island and onedotzero’s Short Film night at The Book Club. Another highlight includes Fortune Cookie’s workshop on how to best pitch your ideas (the top performer of which will win a placement) and Dare’s panel event CANNTfessions, where all the industry’s dark and dirty secrets will be revealed.

At the heart of the Festival is the CANNT Skinny Cubs, a competitive brief and the Festival’s own award ceremony open to all creative students. Judged by eminent Creative Directors and clients, it is the perfect opportunity for young creatives to showcase their talent to their peers and revel in the glory that comes with their feline-shaped ‘It’s not a Lion’ trophy.

“I’m proper stoked that a simple idea hatched over a meaty dinner continues to capture the imagination and energy of our industry colleagues. We’re really looking forward to making the third year of this event bigger, better and more inclusive of a wider agency audience. This summer, keep it CANNT!” – Simon Gill, Executive Creative Director at LBi

We’re on the hunt for more equally inspiring events and topics to bring to the table.  So if you’d like to sponsor the festival, or put on event yourself, or simply to find out more, please email laura.jordan-bambach@thisisdare.com and cannt@lbi.com.
