Easy Mondays, the bespoke production company with a reputation for breaking creative boundaries with engaging storytelling in the US, is opening its doors in London.
The new European outpost will be headed up by Saskia d’Altena, an EP whose work includes campaigns for top brands such as Bumble, Puma, Heinz, McDonald's, Buchanan's, Diageo, ranging from short-form social content to prestigious branded films. She’s spent the past nine years working out of New York, but the move to London represents a homecoming for the ambitious filmmaker.
“Expanding our footprint beyond the US has always been a big goal for us and I'm so excited for that to be happening in the place I'm from”, she says. “I feel even luckier to be coming home with Easy Mondays on my back; a roster of talented and diverse directors to share with such an impactful market.”
It’s another step in the progression of Easy Mondays as a production house, having started life on a laptop beside founder Asori Soto’s bathtub in New York City. Now, the company spans multiple territories and is relishing the opportunity to bring its umbrella of directing talent to Europe.
“Being an NYC-born company, we see London as our ideal notion of being ‘bi-coastal’, a concept that represents our global perspective and dreams. We believe we can bring the same vision to the local markets in the UK”, Asori comments. “We aim to keep creating meaningful work for our clients in the US while developing new partnerships in the UK and releasing our first feature film with our producing partners at Marvista and Marginal Media.”
In the UK, Easy Mondays will be represented by the creative talent network ENID London. “We're all so happy to now be working with Easy Mondays”, notes a spokesperson from ENID. “Many of their directors have been on our radar, so it's truly exciting to have the opportunity to collaborate with such a young, talented, and dynamic team, so we're certainly looking forward to this next chapter.”
The move to London provides a new challenge in the form of a distinctive creative culture that the EP can’t wait to explore, Saskia explains, “It's been a very refreshing few weeks immersing myself in the adverts on TV here and seeing so much of what our directors strive for in the humour, emotion, tone and style”, she says. “I've always said that the UK’s audience appreciates work that takes creative risks and I can't wait for our roster to get in front of new eyes.”
It’s an organic step for a company that has always prized creative expression and evolution. “We started Easy Mondays with two main commitments: on the one hand, to become a premier space for creativity, connection, innovation, and experimentation, and on the other, to become a reliable source for effective production”, adds Asori. “During these last few years, we have honed those skills and fostered a talented and diverse roster of directors alongside a vast network of international partners.”
