Bicoastal visual effects studio ArsenalFX tames perilous roads in the stylish, black and red-hued new :30 ‘Corners’ for BMW out of Kirshenbaum Bond Senecal, NY. The artfully colour-graded and composited spot features a 3-series with X-drive effortlessly navigating curvy, slick roads with guts and grace.
ArsenalFX’s Flame Artists Joseph Grosso and Steve Gibbons handled the conform, online and cleaned up several segments in the spot. Some of their specific work includes giving the roads a darker, more textured look, properly aligning the BMW logo, darkening the windows so the driver remains unseen, removing a European license plate and holder, and adding the X-drive logo to a more visually appropriate side of the car’s trunk.
‘Corners’ opens on the hood of a black BMW charging through the city and mountains. A gust of rain-filled wind rushes by and the sports car changes from black to fire engine red as the voiceover declares, “Corners, curves, wet slippery turns. Game on.” Each flashy cut is accompanied by a colour change to the car and the wooded surroundings. The voiceover concludes, “The BMW 3-series with X-drive, intelligent all-wheel-drive. We only make one thing: the ultimate driving machine.” The BMW logo closes out the spot.
