Armoury has signed screen-writer and award winning, BAFTA nominated director Jesse Lewis Reece to the team. Shortly after finishing film school, Jesse already had two short films under his belt and one under development with the BFI. His brilliant graduation film ‘Bleach’ won a record four Royal Television Awards at the RTS Nationals. These included Best Drama and a Special Judge’s Jury Award.
His Second Short ‘Eyelash’ won five Gold Screen awards at YDA 2020 and four Golds at Berlin Commercial. ‘Eyelash’ was also officially selected at other major festivals, such as London and Aesthetica Short Film Festival and the BFI Flare LGBTQ Film Festival. Following his Sky Sports ad, Jesse is keen to make a name for himself in the commercial world of TV and Film. ‘Eyelash’ was recently nominated for the British Short Film Award at the 2021 BAFTA Film Awards.
Matt Hichens, partner and senior producer at Armoury, comments: "Jesse is an incredible director and I am over the moon he’s now joining Armoury officially! I’ve had the pleasure of knowing and working with him over the last few years. His work is inspiring, brilliantly crafted and beautifully considered. He's a delight to work with and I really think he's a special talent and one to watch."
It was Jesse’s recent thought-provoking and beautifully shot short film 'Eyelash', which tackles mental health and OCD, when Armoury first became aware of his talents while finishing off the edit at Armoury, which has now gone on to win multiple awards and even a BAFTA nomination in 2021.
