Marianna crafts compelling narratives that delve into the essence of story and character
Toronto-based production company ANIMALS has welcomed Marianna Phung for commercial representation across Canada. With a keen eye for capturing the human condition, Marianna navigates the intricate dance between drama and comedy in her portfolio.

As a director, Marianna’s approach is one of exploration and discovery. With an ability to elevate comedic moments off the page and make them resonate with an authenticity that is both refreshing and profound, Marianna’s work demonstrates versatility and creative prowess, imbuing each project with a signature style that is unmistakably hers. Her commercial portfolio includes work for global brands including Gillette, Bud Light and WestJet.

Marianna’s work on TV projects like ‘Ezra’ (OUTtv) and ‘Pillow Talk’ (Crave) showcase her ability to create worlds that are as rich in emotion as they are in humour. Noteworthy accolades, including Best Director at Toronto’s 48hr Film Challenge for ‘May Flowers’ and Best International Short Film at the Houston Comedy Film Festival for ‘Cranberry Flirt,’ highlight her natural ability for crafting narratives that captivate and entertain, all while exploring the nuances of the human experience.

Chris Hutsul and Miriana DiQuinzio, executive producers at ANIMALS, comment, “As soon as we saw Marianna’s short film ‘Cranberry Flirt’, we knew we had to meet her. With her positive energy and sharp wit, it was immediately apparent that Marianna would fit in with our group. We love the fact that Marianna’s directing is informed by her experience in writing, acting and performance coaching. She’s a creative force and an inspiring person, and we couldn’t be happier to welcome her to the ANIMALS family.”

Marianna Phung, director at ANIMALS, adds, “I wanted to join the roster because the owners and I have a shared vision. ANIMALS has top calibre talent and I feel like I could really expand my creativity and career with this production house. They love my voice and want to help me amplify it which is what every director wishes for in their reps. I’m grateful and honoured to be collaborating with these like-minded creatives that I find inspiring to be around!”
