A game of football lasts for 90 minutes, so when AMV BBDO were asked to promote BT Sport’s coverage of this year’s FA Cup, they created 90 different radio ads.
Each ad is one minute long, and tells the story of a different minute, from a different game, painstakingly researched from the 147-year history of the trophy.
From the injured soldier who was rescued from Dunkirk and went on to score in the 1946 Cup Final, to the time a game was abandoned in heavy fog and they forgot to tell the goalkeeper.
The ads are read by celebrity fans like Lena Headey from Game of Thrones. (Who knew Cersei Lannister supported Huddersfield Town?) and by football legends, like Steven Gerrard. AMV even create an extra three ads on top of the ninety, for Half Time, Injury Time and Extra Time.
The campaign ran on TalkSPORT in the run-up to this year’s FA Cup Final which took place on Saturday 19th May.
