As the world’s elite women runners get ready to compete, MilkPEP’s newest ad, 'Made For Women,' spotlights the inaugural Every Woman’s Marathon, the US marathon designed by and for women. The campaign highlights Team Milk’s purpose in championing women runners.
Created by GALE and spanning 30 seconds, 'Made For Women' begins with powerful images: one of an all-men marathon indicative of ancient Greece and the other of Kathrine Switzer being shoved during the 1967 Boston Marathon. “Marathons were made for men. We’re changing that.” appears across the screen, introducing acclaimed poet Amanda Gorman. The campaign is then overlaid by a poem narrated and penned by Amanda.
Her inspiring mantra celebrates women of all sizes, backgrounds, races, and abilities - as do the campaign’s accompanying images, demonstrating the breadth of women who will be participating in the marathon. 'Made For Women,' which will appear on Peacock and YouTube in front of sports content and highlights, will air immediately and run through August 11th. Every Woman’s Marathon, which just officially sold out with over 7,000 sign-ups, will take place on November 16th in Savannah, Georgia.
“Milk has supported athletes for centuries with essential nutrients for fuelling and recovery - what every runner needs,” said MilkPEP CEO Yin Woon Rani. “Every Woman’s Marathon enhances this support and promotes equity in sports with an inspiring experience designed by and for women. It’s more than a race, it’s a movement that’s resonating - 42% of registrants are first-time marathon runners.”
GALE creative director Karen Starc said, “This spot showcases Milk’s mission to support women that people worldwide will see. We want all women runners to feel inspired and seen.”
