The film compassionately follows the story of a young couple, as they try to navigate their way through a Green Card Interview
For writing and directing duo Sam and David Cutler-Kreutz, exploring the heartless injustices that immigrants face in modern America brought them directly in contact with the twisted institutional, and bureaucratic structures that knot their way through the underbelly of the nation they call home. In this dark world, hidden and ignored by many, families are torn apart in a vast inhumane labyrinth of impossible choices.

In 'A LIEN', Sam and David look to shine a light on the plight of these countless families, looking beyond the crude narratives, meaningless statistics and general indifference that dominate the subject, to try and get to the heart of matter; the individuals that are swept up in this cruel system. The film compassionately follows the story of a young couple, as they try to navigate their way through a Green Card Interview on which their dreams dangerously hang.

Repped by 42 for Commercials and Long Form, Sam and David have always looked to explore their world from a perspective unique to them, born out of a childhood devoid of a television. Instead finding inspiration from each other's dreams, manifested visually through the lens of a mini digital camera, bought by their Dad. Years later and still together, the two brothers now stand on the cusp of winning one of the most prestigious awards in Hollywood, an Oscar.

Their respect for the creative forces that drive them, and the importance of those around them is evident across all their work; such as Fallout for Supreme X Burberry, in which a grounded teenager escapes his bedroom to follow his passion for skateboarding, a journey he follows with his friends as they explore the boundless horizons of youth. While in Adidas ZNE, an athlete muses on the powers that connect us, our neighbourhood, our community, our sense of self.

“Sam and David’s craft is exceptional.” Described OB42’s managing director Clancie Brennan. “Their highly emotive, cinematic stories are some of the best short films I have ever seen. And when they combine their talents with our clients, they produce the type of magical content brands need more than ever to cut through the noise and engage on a deeper level with consumers. We wish them the best of luck at the Oscars this Sunday!”

Sam and David are represented for global film and TV by Jev Valles, Kate Prentice and partner Josh Varney. They are also repped globally for commercials by OB42 managing director Clancie Brennan.
