Red Peak, a new company that is staffed with senior figures from the design and marketing industry have created an 'urban experiment' to visually show how long a normal, standard bicycle would survive on the streets of NYC.
Last year, Red Peak conducted a unique urban experiment for Hudson Urban Bicycles. On January 1, 2011 they chained a fully loaded bike - bells, basket, lights and more - to a post along a busy NY Soho street. Each day, every day, for 365 days they took a picture of the bike, watching it slowly vanish before their eyes. The photos were then turned into a daily calendar... resulting in their aptly titled project LIFECYCLE: 365 days in the life of a bike in NYC.
The goal was to develop a calendar for a new york bike shop 'Hudson Urban Bicycles'. This local bike shop is deeply invested in the NYC cycling community and Red Peak wanted to create a simple piece to connect and contribute to the community they serve.
