Today, 100% signs one of the leading portrait photographers in the Netherlands: Robin De Puy. Robin is known for her engaging, intimate and evocative images of celebrities and ordinary people alike, as well as a growing body of forward-thinking commercial work.
Starting from a desire to tell her own story through the faces of others, Robin’s approach combines authenticity with a deep sense of connection, resulting in images that are intensely intimate – imbued with a sensitivity and timelessness that encourages a careful contemplation on the human condition. Using the camera as an aid to understand the deeply personal traits and histories of each subject, Robin has trained her lens on high-profile figures including Bernie Sanders, Marina Abramovic, Jane Goodall and Sifan Hassan, for leading publications such as Harper's Bazaar, Die Zeit Magazine and LINDA.
Though perhaps best known for her photography, Robin is a multidisciplinary artist, having directed numerous films as well.
She has also amassed an impressive catalogue of commercial work, for clients such as KesselsKramer, Bijenkorf and G-Star Raw, to name a few. Together with 100%, Robin is now poised to expand on this, diverting more of her creativity and her unique eye to branded projects set to make a cultural impact.
Straight after graduating from the Fotoacademie Rotterdam, Robin’s career immediately took off, winning the Photo Academy award in 2009 for her series ‘Girls in Prostitution, followed by the National Portrait Prize in 2013 and 2019.
Her work has been exhibited internationally at institutions and galleries including Bonnefantenmuseum, Maastricht (2018); Museum Hilversum, Hilversum (2017); The Hague Museum of Photography, The Hague (2016); Stedelijk Museum, Breda (2016), Photoville, New York (2016) and Bonnefanten Museum (2018).
Her hugely successful personal photographic projects include ‘The Americans’, ‘Down By The Water’ and ‘If This is True, I’ll Never Have to Leave Home Again’, which was inspired by Robin’s 10,000 km road trip across the US on a Harley Davidson, which itself was the subject of an Emmy-nominated documentary titled ‘Robin's Road Trip’ by Simone de Vries and Maarten van Rossem.
Gijs Determeijer, partner and executive producer of 100% (fka HALAL said), "We've been working with Robin on a documentary film for quite some time, so it was a natural step to bring her in as a photographer and multidisciplinary powerhouse. With our photography roster growing more and more internationally, it was a no-brainer to add one of the most exciting Dutch portrait photographers around to our team. We already know what Robin is capable of, and we're really excited to collaborate with her and our clients on exciting brand campaigns".
Robin said, "I’ve been following 100% for years and have seen so many amazing projects come to life. Being supported by an agency that excels in both photography and film is the ideal match for me—it’s the perfect blend for me. I’m beyond excited to collaborate with 100% and can’t wait to see what we’ll create together!"
