Zulu Alpha Kilo Promotes Jonah Flynn and Michael Siegers to Creative Directors

Jonah and Michael are promote from their previous roles as associate creative directors

Long-time Zulu Alpha Kilo ACD creative duo, Jonah Flynn and Michael Siegers, have been promoted to creative directors. Starting as writer and art director, Jonah and Michael joined five years ago and have grown with the agency. Along the way they have consistently created award-winning work and delivering results for their clients. Their work has been recognized by the One Show, Clios, EFFIES, Communication Arts, Marketing Awards, ADC Awards, ADCC and a slew of others.

Within their first year at Zulu, their work made headlines across the globe when they created Tim Hortons’ viral sensation The Away Game, where Kenya’s only hockey team was invited to Canada to play their first real game. The campaign garnered praise internationally and was covered by news outlets worldwide, including CNN, BBC, and Sports Illustrated.

Their most recent work includes an integrated program that launched Fixed-Rate Pizza. Using a light-hearted tongue-in-cheek tone that plays on language from the mortgage industry, the program brought consumers some much needed levity, along with real value, at a time when inflation was a significant concern for Canadians. The campaign created a lot of buzz, including a mention in the Wall Street Journal.

They also recently created Pizza Pie Charts. Using a series of contextual and cultural pizza pie charts, Pizza Pizza’s 'Everyone Deserves Pizza' campaign celebrates the vast spectrum of pizza lovers everywhere. 

“We love being part of an agency that truly puts creativity first,” says Jonah. “We’ve done the best work of our careers here, and we’re excited to help Zulu’s younger creatives do the same.”

Other notable campaigns include the launch campaign for the 2020 Subaru Outback, The G.O.O.A.T. (Greatest Outback Of All Time). It pitted the Outback against a mountain goat, resulting in the most successful launch in 25 years. The campaign dominated the 2020 CMA Awards, winning Best of Show in addition to four other golds and recognition globally. Their work includes the category-disrupting Don’t Get Milked for RATESDOTCA, which featured a sack of udders hanging from underneath a car – the consequence for never comparing insurance rates.

“We’re really proud of the work we’ve done at Zulu,” Michael says. “It’s an amazing place that fosters great ideas and we’re looking forward to making more stuff with left hands, goats, or whatever.”

They were also the team behind the industry viral sensation Left-Handed Mango Chutney that was screened at November’s Strategy’s Agency of the Year award show, and poked fun at the industry’s awards obsession. The spot builds on the agency’s Awards Gone Wild video from the year before, also created by Flynn and Siegers.
