Caviar welcomes Emmy-nominated writer, producer, and director Leslye Headland to its roster for commercial representation in the US.
Leslye began her career writing and directing IAMA Theatre Company’s ‘Seven Deadly Plays’ series, including Bachelorette and Assistance - both of which enjoyed successful runs in New York. Bachelorette later became the basis for Leslye’s directorial debut of the same name, which starred Isla Fisher, and Rebel Wilson and premiered at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival.
Leslye’s film credits have since included writing the 2014 remake of About Last Night starring Kevin Hart, and writing/directing Sleeping with Other People starring Jason Sudeikis and Alison Brie. Her writing and directing credits for television also include Terriers (FX), Blunt Talk (Starz), SMILF and Black Monday (Showtime), and Heathers (Paramount) - as well as pilots for HBO, ABC, and NBC.
Most recently, Leslye served as writer, director, and showrunner for Netflix’s acclaimed series, Russian Doll, which was nominated for three Primetime Emmy Awards and nine Creative Arts Emmy Awards - the latter of which it won three. She is currently serving as writer, executive producer, and showrunner on the upcoming Star Wars series The Acolyte for Disney+ and recently directed and executive produced the Freeform pilot Single Drunk Female. In addition to this, she has signed a multi-year, overall deal with Fox 21 Television Studios to create, develop and direct series for network, cable and streaming platforms.
Michael Sagol, managing director at Caviar, comments: “We could not be more thrilled with working with someone of Leslye’s caliber. Her incredible attention to unique storytelling is going to be an amazing addition to the Caviar family.”
