An Apple-defying spot from Fortnite maker Epic Games is one of seven pieces of work to catch our eye this week, writes LBB’s Natasha Patel

A generation who have never had the experience of watching Ridley Scott’s famous 1984 ad for Apple’s Macintosh are soon to become pretty familiar with a new 2020 version of the spot from Epic Games. The parody campaign is the result of a high profile fallout between Apple and Fortnite that resulted in the popular game being removed from the App Store after the tech giant says Epic Games had contravened terms of service by using its own payment system and circumventing Apple’s 30% transaction fee.

Merely minutes after the news became public, Epic Games announced that it was taking legal action against Apple, and would be streaming a live announcement within the Fortnite game itself. That announcement was an almost shot-for-shot re-enactment of the iconic 1984 ad, except this version featured a heroine with rainbow hair and unicorn mast as her weapon of choice.

With this much drama and what we predict is a long legal battle ahead for the brand you can see why it made the shortlist of our favourite work from the past seven days. Check out the full list below.
