Kevin the Carrot has become a fixture of the British Christmas ad parade that we can rely upon. Having proved himself effective for the supermarket year after year, we were confident that McCann would showcase the anthropomorphised root vegetable for the sixth year in a row. In true style, Kevin and friends delivered on that expectation… In a pun-name-laden reworking of Charles Dickens’ ‘A Christmas Carol’, our Psyop-directed orange friend is joined by Ebanana Scrooge, Marcus Radishford, Peas and Goodwill and Tiny Tom in a festive tale that’s sure to warm hearts as we move into a potentially bleak midwinter.
That’s just one of the standout pieces of creativity from the second week of the big Christmas advertising push, but there have been plenty more too, including some crackers from brand giants such as Coca-Cola, McDonald’s and Amazon. Plus, there’s clever work coming out that’s not about Christmas because it is, after all, still mid-November.
