Any verbal abuse can have an impact on our children. The Observatory of Ordinary Educational Violence - OVEO, and Stop VEO, Child Without Violence (two associations) and the Publicis Conseil agency launch the first public awareness campaign on the impact of verbal abuse by parents, education of their child in France. It will be followed by numerous initiatives until 20 November 2017, International Day of the Rights of the Child.
We all have heard a negative phrase aimed towards us that has marked our childhood ... Without being aware of it and often under the influence of anger, parents say words that hurt and that can leave indelible traces.
« What did I do wrong to have a son like you? »
« If only I’d known I would never of had kids. »
« It’s true that your brother has always been the smart one. »
« You shouldn’t wear that t-shirt.It makes your arms look fat. »
This film, made and produced by the Publicis Conseil Agency and under the watchful eye of director Camille Fontaine de Carnibird, is the testimony of five adults. Each adult with his/her own history, experience, feelings ... delivers his/her negative insults, the one which has marked them for life.
The main objective of the campaign is to make parents and general public reflect on current educational practices. OVEO and Stop VEO, Child Without Violence, are committed to creating a real awareness about ordinary child-bearing violence, practiced by 100% of parents and tolerated by society, psychological or physical, that can affect development, compromise self-confidence and self-esteem, and affect the adult children will become.
Both associations have been working for many years to inform parents and professionals that non-violent education is possible in order to stop the use of these educational methods from generation to generation and thus ,to promote the harmonious development of the child.
The film will be broadcast on television, relayed on social networks and will be accompanied by an information and accompaniment system for parents on the site of OVEO and STOP VEO.
