This month West One Music Group, the leading independent production music company, is celebrating its 20th anniversary. West One Music has been proudly independent since 2002 and focused on bringing media to life with its diverse music catalogue created by a global community of artists and composers.
Founded in the heart of London’s Soho by Edwin Cox, Tony Prior and renowned film and TV composer Richard Harvey, West One Music’s independence has permitted it to develop and expand at a rapid pace. The company has opened offices and production studios in 15 countries and more recently, a market-leading custom music division led by the Los Angeles office. Their unwavering commitment to releasing high-quality music for the global media industry, created by the world’s finest, emerging and established musicians, is unparalleled. The creative teams work with local composers and artists to ensure that their vast catalogue of over 80,000 tracks, is truly authentic.
Edwin Cox, global CEO said, “We hope that artists and composers want to work with us because we provide an incredible platform for their music to be heard around the world. We also respect and celebrate the amazing creativity they bring both to our catalogue and to our clients.
We’re a relatively small group, but the production team are very hands-on with the creative process, providing orchestras, musicians, arrangers, engineers and more. Anything we need to do to support the artists and composers in creating the best music, we are more than happy to provide.”
Independence has allowed West One Music to flourish but having to stay abreast of a continually evolving market isn’t easy. One of the biggest challenges in the indie production music space is the globalisation of client agreements – it’s becoming ever more challenging for an indie to operate in a space where the needs of many clients are becoming either multi-territory or global. West One Music has addressed this key challenge by establishing and investing in building a standalone global network, providing a stable core footprint both now and for the future.
Here’s to another successful 20 years of supporting independent music!
