WDCW for Free Speech For People

Ad agency WDCW recently created and executed the “Your Logo Here” commercial for Free Speech For People, a national non-partisan organization working to overturn the 2010 Supreme Court ruling in Citizens United vs. Federal Election Commission allowing unrestricted political expenditures by corporations. The spot is currently running online here.

 

 

“WDCW has powerfully conveyed with this spot, in just thirty seconds, why the Supreme Court’s Citizens United ruling is such a threat to the integrity of our elections, and why we must fight to overturn it,” said John Bonifaz, the Co-Founder and Executive Director of Free Speech For People.

 

“The Citizens United case jeopardizes true democracy by taking power away from the people and putting it into the hands of corporations,” noted Tracy Wong, Chairman/Executive Creative Director, WDCW. "Corporations aren't people, but they now have the power to buy an election, anonymously, with no limits. We aimed to convey that idea quite vividly with the ‘Your Logo Here’ campaign.”

 

The striking :30 spot shows iconic American landmarks such as the Washington Monument, the White House, Mount Rushmore, and the Statue of Liberty adorned with signs and billboards saying “Your Logo Here,” with a powerful voiceover concisely explaining how “democracy is now for sale.”

 

“I hope that this the campaign will grab people’s attention and encourage them to learn more about this issue,” Wong concluded.
