This was such a special project to be involved in, for so many reasons. For one, it was another chance for Wash to team up with its long-time collaborators, Tim Wetherall and Jon Evans. After many years of working together on shared projects, earlier this year Wash finally made it official (does this mean they have to buy rings?) as they recently joined the Wash family as part of our services for all things VFX/CG.
Their talent and attention to detail are clear to see in this spot and in their previous work (see showreel here) and - to add the cherry on top of our newlywed cake - they’re also thoroughly nice chaps.
Tim and Jon E said: “After 15 years of creating VFX and post production exclusively for projects we have directed, we’re thrilled to be spreading our wings and working with the hugely talented guys at Wash, heading up their VFX offering. We will be working with agencies, production companies and other directors to help realise their vision, with the help of our expertise and knowledge.
The first project in this exciting new incarnation with Wash is this global campaign for Dulux through the fantastic people at MullenLowe with the lovely and equally talented Meghann Artes at You Are Here. This was a perfect job for us as Meghann’s vision was so playful. Meghann wanted to keep as much of the production in-camera as possible and not use too much CG trickery. We were brought in from the storyboarding process onwards, to help facilitate this approach, maximise the shoot and then pull everything together in post-production to give it the wonderfully tactile feel that it has. The final films were then beautifully graded by Wash’s very own Jon Dobson to give it a final touch of fun and vibrancy. All in all, a great job that was as much fun to work on as it is to watch”.
We were so fortunate as well to have worked with so many talented and creative people, from Director Meghann Artes and the Creative team at Mullen Lowe, John Dean and Gary Marjoram. The imagination, style and playfulness they brought to the project ensures this spot will leave a lasting impact.
We worked with the team collaboratively using live video streams, enabling everyone to bounce off each other while Jon Dobson was grading; a perfect set-up given the remote nature of the job.
The final film demands your attention and quickly transports you through different worlds.
