With the return of Oasis announced on Friday, people are digging out their Adidas trainees, parkas and Ben Shermans. Four dates at Wembley and Heaton Park with surely many more to be announced, the nation will be twitching at their laptop screens at 9am to secure their tickets.
I grew up with the music of Oasis. Although I am not of the original generation, some of my earliest memories are sat in my Dad’s old dark green Audi 80 and hearing Definitely Maybe through the speakers. Oasis are a band, one of the last bands that truly speak to every generation that hears them. They make you feel like anything is possible. Speaking about menial things and making them beautiful and romantic yet raw, powerful and snarling at the same time. They were magicians, they made your tiny world seem seen and you felt completely related to. A poet and a town cryer.
As someone who was and still is influenced by them I’ve decided to create a playlist of the music that inspired them and the music that came after because of them. Plus a selection of my personal favourite Oasis songs in the middle for you too.
Mad fer it…
