Volvo Takes Safety to the Next Level for EX90 Reveal

Volvo Cars and AKQA created new safety vision by defining the role that feeling safe plays in all our lives

Today at an exclusive event in Stolkholm, VIPs and media will learn about technology, innovation, safety, and design stories delivered via rich and immersive visual and audio storytelling, including a performance from Swedish artist Seinabo Sey. The reveal will also be live streamed across the across multiple sites including YouTube with a wealth of supporting owned content, Digital OOH and local print.

Immersive experiences at the entrance to the site have been crafted to bring key innovations such as lidar, bi-directional charging and core computing to life and give context to how the new technologies behave. An exterior LED wall will run from the very same lidar technology as the Volvo EX90 and using sensors will create a colourful playground as if the science is a work of art.

In parallel to the event, a 360 campaign to launch the Volvo EX90 to the world across paid, owned and earned channels. Key features and benefits of the all-new flagship model are captured in first person POV, describing the features as personality traits, emphasizing the notion that the new electric SUV understands and looks out for you. From CGI and breath taking 3D to motion graphics and stills film photography, a carefully crafted suite of assets has been curated to bring to life the incredible stories behind the new fully electric SUV across digital, OOH, TVC and Cinema.

AKQA have worked to connect the dots across a full campaign ecosystem to help celebrate the dawn of the new fully electric SUV.

The flagship model will be revealed to the world in a 360 campaign which celebrates the decades of safety experience and new and enhanced technologies and innovations that make the Volvo EX90 so unique.

A suite of incredible storytelling will capture the Volvo EX90 and continue to celebrate the reveal across Paid, owned and earned channels.

  • AKQA worked closely with teams at Volvo Cars to understand the key features and stories of the Volvo EX90, spanning safety, sustainability and design.
  • The resulting strategy was built on safety but reimagine it with a pioneering mindset:  The first car that makes you better. And gets better with you.
  • The platform for Volvo EX90 is better together. The car has a playful, clever and trustworthy personality that is brought to life through first person lines that encourage a dialogue from the very moment the car meets the world
  • From CGI and breath taking 3D to motion graphics and stills film photography a carefully selected suite of assets has been curated to bring to life the incredible stories behind the new fully electric SUV across digital, OOH, TVC and Cinema.
  • Hero assets are soundtracked by a previously unreleased track ‘New World Coming’ recorded by local artist, Augustine. The lyrics of the track match perfectly the Volvo EX90 launch into a new era.
