Over five billion transactions…
More than seven billion credit cards, bank accounts and digital wallets…
Involving people located in nearly 200 different countries.
These are just some of the financial transactions Visa Direct facilitated last year.
That type of scale is so staggering, it’s almost impossible for the brand to dimensionalise this story for its vast array of customers: corporate banks, fintech, small businesses and remittance partners. Let alone give them a reason to partner with Visa Direct (despite it being the world’s fastest, largest and safest way to move money between people, businesses, governments and organisations).
Enter 'Money Travels', a 12-episode podcast series that tells the human side of moving money around the world. Created in partnership with Episode Four a marketing partner that specializes in creating hits for brands, 'Money Travels' is a podcast travel guide detailing how people move money around the world. Each episode illustrates how regional payment trends and local payment nuances are impacting the global money movement landscape.
“Money Travels” is hosted by Dr. Indre Viskontas, the well-renowned podcast host of the series “Inquiring Minds” and includes industry experts (from Visa and their partners) who illustrate how advances in money movement can make people's lives easier. As an award-winning neuroscientist, Indre takes an outside-in approach to explore topics like sending global remittances, paying gig workers, connecting digital wallets, fighting money fraud, and more.
The series recently launched and is particularly timely as the last three years have seen a radical shift in people’s expectations of paying and getting paid. For example, during COVID, people quickly adopted digital payments for their day-to-day transactions. Things like tapping-to-pay at the grocery store, Venmoing a friend to split the bill, and ordering and paying through a QR code have become routine for billions of consumers around the world.
Yet,while consumers expect instant payments, the business world has lagged behind. Someone can pay a friend instantly on Paypal, but it takes weeks for a migrant worker to send money back home. Or for an Airbnb host to access funds after a stay. Or even for someone to access their own money after moving funds between their bank and brokerage account.
Visa Direct is helping to solve all of that (and more).
The series is available on all popular global podcast platforms. Click here to listen to the first three episodes.
