VCCP a announce that they have joined the Conscious Advertising Network (CAN). CAN is a voluntary coalition of over 70 organisations set up to ensure that industry ethics catches up with the technology of modern advertising.
They join their founding client O2 in their association with the network and are committed to protecting and upholding the integrity of the advertising industry and will be encouraging more of their clients to join the network.
Jake Dubbins, co-chair, The Conscious Advertising Network commented,“It is our belief that industry ethics must now catch up with the technology of modern advertising. Brands do not live in a vacuum and the money spent on advertising has a profound impact on society. The internet has democratised information and communications like nothing else in history. In 2021 it has become a battleground. Misinformation about public health and climate, hate directed at minority groups and a tool used to subvert democracy. The advertising industry, from brands and agencies to adtech, is perfectly placed to consciously change both their operations and the content they produce in pursuit of making communications that are better for all.”
Stephanie Brimacombe, group CMO from VCCP added “Our industry has such far-reaching influence on society at large that it’s our responsibility to ensure that we are holding these online platforms to account. We are excited to sign up to the Conscious Advertising Network and work closely with them to achieve their aims.”
