American singer-songwriter Stephen Sanchez, in partnership with Mercury Records/Republic Records, a division of UMG Recordings, has joined forces with director Charlie Rees and Untold Studios to create a gripping narrative in his latest music video, ‘Death of the Troubadour’.
Set in a 1950’s mobster bar, the video transports viewers into a dramatic and Western-inspired narrative that mirrors the song's themes of drama and suspense, creating a cinematic experience similar to the iconic soundtracks like ‘Kill Bill.’ The collaboration between Stephen Sanchez and director Charlie Rees was marked by a high level of artistic synergy – Stephen was deeply committed to the project, and both artists worked collaboratively from the project's inception.

"I've incorporated quite a lot of dance choreography into my work in the past, but this was the first time that I have ever directed a fight scene,” said director Charlie. “Iskey, our fight coordinator (who’s worked with everyone from Jason Statham to Johnny Depp), was amazing and really collaborative throughout. We were under a lot of pressure, but we made it happen! I love creating theatrical set pieces and want to do it more throughout my work."
Charlie expressed his gratitude to the team, including DP Billy Kendall and producer Alex Handschuh, for their exceptional contributions to the project. He also extended special thanks to Annie Ayres for her role in bringing the project to life.
