UK Finance, the collective voice for the banking and finance industry, has appointed M&C Saatchi London to develop a rapid response multichannel campaign to raise awareness of the support available from mortgage lenders for those customers who are concerned about their higher monthly repayment costs.
Rising interest rates mean that many mortgage customers, including those coming to the end of their fixed term deals, may face a considerable rise in their monthly repayments. Mortgage lenders have a range of support available to customers who are facing financial difficulty. Recently many banks and lenders in the UK signed up to the government’s ‘Mortgage Charter’ to give borrowers the necessary reassurance and support through potentially challenging times.
M&C Saatchi is partnering with UK Finance to develop a multichannel campaign to raise awareness of the support that is available to mortgage customers and to encourage them to contact their lender early on if they are worried about making their repayments.
The campaign will run across TV, OOH, radio, print and digital. The first burst will go live this month with a second following in September.
M&C Saatchi pitched for the project in partnership with media agency Goodstuff, which will oversee media planning and buying for the campaign.
UK Finance represents more than 300 firms across the banking and finance industry.
Giles Mason, director, campaigns, UK Finance, said: “Supporting customers is a core objective for our members, and in the current economic climate, it’s important to raise awareness of the help borrowers can get if they’re worried about making their mortgage repayments. Through this campaign we are encouraging mortgage customers to reach out to their lender early on to get the support they need.”
Clare Richardson, business director, M&C Saatchi, added: “Lenders have responded to interest rate pressures with real support for customers in need. The campaign will deliver this message at pace and scale to people who are concerned and make a real, meaningful difference.”
Sam Drake, Chief Growth Officer, Goodstuff, concluded: “We are absolutely delighted to be working with UK Finance and M&C Saatchi to help people across the UK. This campaign is important in highlighting the support their mortgage lenders can offer them.”
