Marc André Debruyne picks up “Director of the Year Award” for 'Hit Me Up'

Twist Director Marc André Debruyne has won the “Director of the Year Award” at the 2012 MuchMusic Video Awards for his direction of the music video “Hit Me Up” by Danny Fernandes, F. Josh Ramsay and Belly.

“It was an honor to receive such a coveted award,” notes Marc André. “It’s my first time ever to win a MuchMusic Video Award after receiving various nominations, so winning ‘Director of the Year’ as my first award was incredible."

For this year’s show, Marc André also received nominations for the “Indie Video of the Year” for “Hit Me Up.” Additionally, the Director had three music videos nominated for “Most Watched Video of the Year” including: Danny Fernandes’ “Hit Me Up,” “Alyssa Reid’s “The Game,” and Tyler Medeiros’ “Say I Love You.” The ceremony aired on Sunday, June 17th on MuchMusic.

“Marc André is a gem; a perfect blend of raw creativity and technical savvy,” concludes Twist Executive Producer Amyliz Pera. “It's always nice to see a sensitive and hard-working person get awarded. This is a very deserving Director, and we're honored to have him on our roster.”

Twist Director Marc André Debruyne has just returned from a successful commercial campaign shoot in Manila for Nestlé and directed an international spot for Red Door. Last fall, he also shot his first American commercial project for Maine Medical Center and completed his 100th music video, the latest clip for Canadian music artist Tyler Medeiros “Say I Love You” (nominated for “Most Watched Video of the Year” at the 2012 MuchMusic Video Awards).

Recent projects for Twist include Director Matt Pittroff's sidesplitting spot for Affinity Plus Credit Union and a multi-spot campaign for Ameristar (both covered in the highly respected “Best Work You May Never See” column in “Shoot Magazine”) and a comical three-spot campaign for NASCAR’s 2011 Nationwide series. Director Rich Michell also shot projects for NetApps and Johnsonville. Additional projects to watch for from the Twist team include a new campaign for CenturyLink, directed by Matt Pittroff; and a new spot for Fresh Wave by Director/DP Rich Michell, as well as a new Medica campaign from Director Grady Cooper and continued work from Director Chris Stocksmith for the popular AOL “You’ve Got...” series.
