This Summer, Trainline announced the sponsorship of Real Betis Balompié, one of Spain’s most popular Spain’s LALIGA teams. The train ticket app brand wanted to embrace the Béticos passion and community by helping them follow their team, thought to be some of the most passionate fans in the country.
Understanding that being a football fan is about more than just attending matches, the train ticket app invited three Beticos (Betis fans) who had never been to the world famous Benito Villamarín stadium to the game against Atletico de Madrid on 27th October.
On match day, 76 year old Kety Ruiz, 17 year old Issac Campillo, a Madrid-based computer scientist and Christian Ortega and his young son Aaron were welcomed by 52,000 fans during the half time break. An emotional day made even better as Betis won the game against an unbeaten Atlético de Madrid 1-0.
Created by DUDE London, the Unforgettable Starts campaign is part of Trainline's sponsorship platform 'Next Stop: where passion takes us' (Proxima Parada: Donde La Pasion Nos Lleve) and is running across social media, digital and online video channels from today.
Leah Knighton, brand director at Trainline said, “We believe that every journey starts with a great beginning, and there's no better way to kick off a journey than by sharing unforgettable moments with passionate fans. This campaign is a celebration of that passion, and we’re proud to give Real Betis fans an experience that will stay with them forever. Our goal is to create deeper connections with the community, making every step of their journey just as exciting as the destination. We’re thrilled to be a part of their story - both on and off the pitch."
Curro Piqueras, executive creative director at DUDE London added, “This creative platform celebrates the excitement of what’s next or the start of something bigger. This first episode celebrates the start of a new fandom among fans who have never been to the stadium in a fun and, maybe, slightly emotional way. We hope that fans love this partnership as much as we do.”
