Feature-length films Broadway Rising, Aisha and There There premiered at the 2022 festival taking place this week in NYC

Bicoastal/London-based Park Pictures is proud to announce that three feature-length films, which they have produced, premiered at the 2022 Tribeca Film Festival, taking place this week in NYC.

“We are incredibly honoured to have partnered with such visionary and insightful filmmakers as Amy, Frank, and Andrew,” says Park Founding Partner Jackie Kelman Bisbee. “Each of these films, though very different from each other, is the product of an incisive and thought-provoking vision of our modern society.”

Broadway Rising (United States) – World Premiere in the Movies Plus category. This feature-length documentary, directed by Amy Rice, follows the Broadway community’s journey over the past few years. From the almost overnight shutdown due to the pandemic to the paths taken by essential theater workers on their road back to the stage, this rousing film is a story of triumph and perseverance after a twisted road of setbacks and heartbreak. Following the movie’s screening, Director Amy Rice, Producer Jesse Tyler Ferguson, accompanied by more Broadway luminaries, will engage in a conversation in celebration of Broadway along with a very special performance. The film premiered on Monday, June 13; additional screenings are Thursday, June 16 at 3:15 p.m. in Theater 6 at Village East by Angelika, and Sunday, June 19 at 12 p.m. in Theater 7 at Village East by Angelika.

In addition to Broadway Rising, Amy Rice’s directing credits include the Emmy® award-winning film By the People: The Election of Barack Obama (HBO), Hurricane of Fun (Netflix), and the forthcoming political thriller, The Independent. Rice is currently in development on a TV series, Next of Kin, about a family who lost their son on 9/11.

Aisha (Ireland) – World Premiere in the Spotlight Narrative category. This feature-length drama, written and directed by Frank Berry, follows Aisha, a young Nigerian woman seeking asylum in Ireland. Floundering in a maze of social services and bureaucracy, this timely and poignant story chronicles the harrowing trials faced by the millions of displaced individuals across the globe. As her situation becomes increasingly dire, Aisha struggles to maintain hope and dignity against the looming threat of deportation. The film premiered Saturday, June 11; additional screening on Saturday, June 18 at 5 p.m. in Theater 2 at Village East by Angelika.

Frank Berry is an award-winning filmmaker whose work focuses on important social issues in Ireland. Aisha is his third feature film.

There There (United States) – World Premiere in the Spotlight Narrative category. Andrew Bujalski is back with a warped series of short scenes featuring two characters at a time that toy with our perceptions and expectations in an unhinged reality not far from our own. This feature-length experimental comedy/drama/romance provides a much-needed salve for the burns we’ve all experienced over the last few years. The film premiered Friday, June 10, with an additional screening on Friday, June 17 at 3:45 p.m. in Theater 4 at Village East by Angelika.

Andrew Bujalski has written and directed seven feature films, including There There. He types 89 wpm.
