While drug overdose deaths in the U.S. have slowed from their all-time peak in 2022, the overdose crisis is far from over. That’s why the Ad Council is proud to announce the launch of new life-saving PSAs as part of their ongoing naloxone education campaign. These powerful ads encourage young adults to carry naloxone so they are prepared to save lives in the event of an opioid overdose.
Developed as part of the Ad Council’s partnership with the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) and created pro bono by StrawberryFrog, the new creative work underscores the vital role young people can play in reversing opioid overdoses by carrying naloxone.
Increasing awareness of opioid overdose reversal medications like naloxone is a critical way to empower young adults to save lives, as the presence of fentanyl in illicit drugs and in counterfeit pills continues to put countless lives at risk nationwide. Naloxone (often branded as Narcan or ReVive) is available without a prescription in all 50 states and territories and can reverse an opioid overdose. The new PSAs from the Ad Council build on recently launched step-by-step tutorials showing viewers how to administer naloxone nasal spray to reverse an opioid overdose and direct viewers to RealDealOnFentanyl.com for more information on naloxone and how to use it.
