‘The Fawn’ is a PSA from UNITED SENSE OF AMERICA, a bi-partisan coalition of all Americans dedicated to turning common sense and common ground into public policy.
The PSA, helmed by directing duo rubberband., was concepted and created by international production company SMUGGLER in partnership with New York-based agency American Haiku and Austin-based agency Preacher. The film, written by executive creative director Thom Glover, was designed as a common sense rallying cry aimed at the hunting community. In light of the recent tragic events in Georgia, this message could not feel more urgent and deadly necessary to help sanity finally influence policy.
The film, painful and unavoidable, forces the viewer to imagine someone else’s finger on the trigger and something else as its target. While the scene itself is graphic, the messaging is matter of fact. There simply is no defensible reason or excuse for assault weapons being necessary for sports hunting in our society.
Weapons of war are designed for a battlefield, not our children’s schools.
“The people who need to be on board to make the difference in legislation are hunters who think of themselves as pretty moderate, common sense people. If we make everybody who owns a gun feel attacked and condemned at every turn, then they’re just not going to give an inch on anything”. said Patrick Milling-Smith, co-founder and CEO of SMUGGLER.
“This isn’t a second amendment challenge; this is about our children, our community, our country. This is about our humanity and common sense. We have the power to try to put an end to much of the carnage and terror.” said United Sense of America, spokesperson.
"The communities that have been affected by gun violence, which one could argue now makes up the greater part of this nation, have had to speak far too often and with far greater depth than we can about their grief and their anger. Everything has been said and nothing has been done. In short, we were asked to provide a quote about directing this film and our thoughts on this subject, we believe we have already given one." said rubberband.
