Positive change agency Think HQ has hired two new senior creatives, Rob Barnett and Max Bengtsson. Rob has come on board as executive creative director and Max as senior copywriter. The multi-awarded pair previously worked together on the client side at Xero, where they contributed to elevating the brand’s position as category leader.

Before his time at Xero, Barnett freelanced at agencies including Leo Burnett, BWM Dentsu and JWT. Prior to that he worked at M&C Saatchi for more than five years and he has also worked for Isobar (now Dentsu Creative). Barnett brings a wealth of experience in integrated brand communications, design, activations, and innovations.

Max previously worked at Clemenger BBDO and Isobar (now Dentsu Creative) as copywriter and senior copywriter. During his career, he has worked on campaigns including NAB – Mini Legends and Okinawa – Life, by Okinawa.

Think HQ Founder and managing director Jen Sharpe said, “I’m thrilled to have Rob and Max on board. Creatives of their caliber can be hard to find, and it’s testament to Think HQ’s growth, success and philosophy that we can attract talent like them.

“Rob will lead the campaign and design teams as executive creative director, working with chief creative officer Andy Lima to build on Think HQ’s creative capabilities and culture.”

Speaking about Max Bengtsson, Jen said, “Max’s passion for people, initiative, being forward-thinking and his love for the craft will see him lift both colleagues and creativity across the Think HQ Group. He’ll work across campaigns, new business, and technology collaboratively with the Head of Art and senior executive team.”

Think HQ executive creative director Rob said, “I’ve always been drawn to cause-based clients throughout my career, so I’m thrilled to be part of a growing agency where values and purpose aren't just buzzwords – they’re our compass. After working client side, I have a new appreciation and understanding of the challenges marketers face, as well as the insights and strategies required to have a measurable impact on their brand. I think creativity can be a powerful tool to drive real-world change, and what excites me most about joining Think HQ is the opportunity to make a tangible, meaningful and positive impact across a diverse range of communities.”

Think HQ senior copywriter Max said, “There’s an overwhelming sense of elation being a part of the Think HQ group – almost like a breath of fresh North-West Tasmanian air. Their vision has stayed true since day dot and I’m stoked to have the opportunity to contribute and push the work creatively with the rest of the wonderful and intelligent crew here.”

Rob and Max will be based in Think HQ’s Melbourne office.

Think HQ is having a very successful 2023, expanding to Sydney and announcing a number of senior appointments including Thom Landers as group account director, Fiona Nixon as head of strategy and research, and Taryn Marks as head of First Nations engagement and communication, as well as client wins including hybrid/EV battery innovator Infinitev and Watertrust Australia.
