'There’s No Place Like Home’ in Latest Halifax Ad

Halifax and adam&eveDDB teams with Warner Bros. Consumer Products to launch the latest campaign featuring iconic The Wizard of Oz characters
Halifax has today unveiled the magical land of Oz as the location for its latest TV advertising campaign, starring Dorothy, Toto, Tin Man, Cowardly Lion and Scarecrow - the beloved and iconic characters from the 1939 film. 

Created by adam&eveDBB, the advert tells the story of the arrival of Dorothy and her companions to the Emerald City, but all is not what it seems.

The Wizard of Oz has gone out, leaving Halifax colleague Greg in charge, to help Scarecrow, Cowardly Lion and Tin Man find their dream home, or in Dorothy’s case, find her way home.   


The scenes with Greg (actor David Rees Talbot) were filmed in a TV studio in London, and then painstakingly superimposed during post-production on to original film footage. This is the first time in its series of adverts that Halifax has chosen to enter the world of the characters, rather than bringing them into a high-street branch.

The advert will be broadcast first on Friday 27th April on Channel 4 at 9pm.

The Wizard of Oz characters will also be featured in the national campaign across branches, outdoor and social media, as well as online advertising to promote Halifax’s mortgages cashback campaign.
