Whitehouse Post announces the signing of acclaimed editor Barney Miller to their New York office.
Miller comes to Whitehouse Post after two years at Hooligan, where he worked with top agencies such as Ogilvy, Saatchi, DDB, mcgarrybowen, JWT, and Y&R. Prior to his time at Hooligan, Miller ran his own editorial boutique, Company X Edit, for over eight years, where he cut award-winning spots for brands including Olay, Avon, Volkswagen, Verizon, Quaker Oats, American Express, and Sprite. Recent work includes the new Avon campaign for the new fragrance collection for Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas, directed by Jonas Akerlund.
Miller also recently directed and edited four episodes of Capture, a new docu-style series featuring renowned Vanity Fair and Rolling Stone photographer Mark Seliger. Each episode has interviews with internationally famous photographers such as Bob Gruen, Mary Ellen Mark, and Ben Lowy, along with celebrity guests such as Kevin Bacon and Mikhail Baryshinikov. He also directed and edited four docu-style spots for the "Rock the Cut" campaign for Supercuts by agency Element 79.
A native New Yorker, Miller began his professional career as a teenage musician, opening for bands like The Clash and Chaka Kahn. Upon retiring his guitar, Miller attended film school at The New School/Parsons. Drawing from his musical years, Miller quickly discovered that his sense of timing offered a visceral transition into the edit room, where his career began with promo cuts for MTV & VH1 networks. Creative relationships with directors and fellow Viacom alumni (Pam Thomas, Mark Pellington, Caitlin Felton, Lloyd Stein) led him straight into the music video world and eventually, national commercial spots. Miller has cut videos for a innumerable artists including Fat Boy Slim, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Elvis Costello, and Kanye West.
