Director Favourite Colour: Black collaborated again with Quarry editor Mark Whelan on this recent project for Honda and partner C4; a branded content film entitled ‘The Evolution of Stunts’ to launch a brand new original series for All 4.
Produced through Little Dot Studios for 4 Creative and featuring acclaimed Hollywood stuntman Damien Walters the film recreates cinema’s most famous & iconic stunts in movie history.
Mark’s epic edit which seams together nine classic Hollywood stunts recreated back-to-back in one ambitious execution, begins with Walters’ homage to the silent film era and Harold Lloyd dangling from the hands of a skyscraper’s clock before re-enacting Buster Keaton’s near miss with a collapsing house. Iconic stunts from classic movies like North By Northwest, Indiana Jones, The Matrix and 300 feature throughout the film.
“This is one of those projects that you know is going to be special as soon as you first see the rushes. Obviously, there was lots of fun to be had with speed in a couple of sections, but with so much care taken in the art-design and choreography, the key overall was to hold back and let each stunt play out, making sure each of those key moments of synchronization and fluidity were allowed to fully shine”, comments Mark.
