The campaign strategy draws on the Irish Independent’s unique strength when it comes to their team of GAA writers

The Irish Independent has launched its new campaign, showing why they are the authoritative source for all things GAA. Their new campaign spanning TV, VOD, GAAGO streaming platform, cinema, radio, press, retail, social and digital, analyses the genetic makeup of the Independent Sport’s GAA writers. Stunning visuals and dynamic sound design lead to a clear and concise message - GAA is, and always has been, in the Irish Independent’s DNA.

The campaign strategy draws on the Irish Independent’s unique strength when it comes to their team of GAA writers. Not only do journalists like Joe Brolly, Philly McMahon and John Mullane know their facts when it comes to the game, they are deeply embedded in the community and fiercely passionate about the sport - allowing readers to feel much closer to the action.

This concept champions these experts who have GAA coursing through every fibre of their beings. They are All-Ireland champions, All-Stars winners, and all-in-all sporting legends. The hero film puts these experts under the microscope, and showcases some strong reasons to believe in their writing prowess.

Cliona O’Reilly, senior marketing manager, Mediahuis Ireland said: “GAA is a key content pillar of the Irish Independent and we tasked The Public House with developing a campaign to showcase how our sportswriters live and breathe GAA. We are delighted with how they brought their idea ‘GAA is in our DNA’ to life”.

Art director at The Public House, Paul Kinsella said: “We wanted to show what sets Irish Independent’s GAA coverage apart - and for us that difference was that their journalists are just proper GAA people. They live and breathe the game at all levels. Their passion for it is unparalleled. So we put them and their love of the game under the microscope.”

Kevin Hughes, motion graphics designer at The Public House added: “This project was particularly special for us as an agency as we produced it almost entirely in house, albeit with some stunning sound design from Will Farrell at Blast Audio. As much as it’s a showcase of Irish Independent’s reporting prowess, it’s a testament to our growing production capabilities.”

The campaign for The Public House continues a successful year with the growing independent creative agency’s clients include Jameson and EPIC: The Irish Emigration Museum, FBD and Paddy Power. The agency is known for its strategic rigour and creative edge that delivers for its clients, with a principle that ‘Boring Doesn’t Sell’.
