Cult Wines, the company actively redefining the fine wine market, is partnering with legendary Burgundy fine wine producer, Olivier Bernstein, to release an ultra high-end 1-of-1 jeroboam of Romanée-St-Vivant 2017.
To excite the wine world about this elite initiative, the brand turned to The Berry and The Berry Boys to conceive and deliver a three-minute film that captures the glory of the wine’s growing region while conveying the impressive depth of knowledge and experience that has gone into the one-off seminal bottle of wine. The Berry and Berry Boys team also created a comprehensive package of 3D teasers to promote Cult Wines’ innovative new wine trading platform, CultX.
For the hero film, The Berry Boys (aka directing duo Ryan Burnham and Luke Robson) took to the vineyards of Burgundy, France, to create a bespoke, cinematic film that explored the unique winemaking of Olivier Bernstein and his award winning vineyards. The Berry’s VFX, 3D and 2D teams then took care of polishing the film with the final touches. The film will be used across Cult Wines’ social and digital platforms (YouTube, Vimeo, Instagram, TikTok) to drive further buzz ahead of the auction which starts on 1st August, where the exclusive bottle will have a starting price of £50,000.
For the CultX part of the project, creative production company The Berry was responsible for creating multiple bespoke CultX branded 3D assets and visualisations ranging from 3D wine crates, phones, laptops, globes, wine bottles and more.
The animated assets combined with a fast paced script highlight CultX’s new features and interfaces in a visually exciting way that keeps faithful to the CultX aesthetic and user experience. As part of the final deliverables, The Berry also created 3D and 2D logo ident animations for use across all the brand’s content and channels.
Ryan Burnham, co-founder - The Berry + director - The Berry Boys, said, “It’s such a good feeling when a brief comes through from Cult Wines. They’re always wanting to push creativity across their digital platforms and The Berry are always here to take on the challenge. A small, talented team of ten, travelled to Beaune, France (The home of Burgundy wine… aka the world’s best wines!) to capture the cinematic tale of Olivier Bernstein’s unique Jeroboam (three-litre bottle) of Romanée-St-Vivant. Olivier is a true French winemaker who stops at nothing to deliver perfection. A charming and exciting narrative was created through a passionate interview with Olivier, combined with vibrant visuals of winemaking, wineries and picturesque footage of Beaune.”
Andy Daly, creative producer - The Berry, said, “With the Jeroboam auction fast approaching, we had to move quickly to make this film. There was a small window for us to connect with Olivier at his prestigious Maison in Beaune, the heart of Burgundy. Implementing the creative in another country is always a challenge, but nothing can replace the beautiful landscapes of the wine capital of France! The access to Olivier and Beaune we were able to secure (in collaboration with the brilliant Cult Wines team) allowed us to create this intimate, elegant film.”
