'The Invincibles', launched ahead of International Dog Day, shows how the iPhone 14 is being used to 3D print custom prostheses for physically disabled animals

In the lead up to International Dog Day on 26th August, Apple and TBWA\Media Arts Lab have launched 'The Invincibles', an emotional showcase of how the iPhone is playing its part in changing the lives of tripod dogs.

The campaign highlights how one small business based out of Boonton, NJ, uses LiDAR and TrueDepth technology on iPhone 14 to scan tripod dogs and other physically disabled animals and 3D print custom prostheses for them. Both 'Shot on iPhone' and 'Made with iPhone', the campaign unveils how this unique use case for iPhone can transform a dog's life, making them truly unstoppable.

A hero film, directed by India Sleem, tells the story of Trip, a tripod dog who was almost euthanised as a puppy before being rescued by his owners. Trip stands patiently as 3DPets owners, Alex Tholl and Adam Hecht, use an iPhone 14 Pro Max to carefully scan around his body. Adam and Alex then use the 3D scans to build 3D moulds of the dog's prosthesis on Mac. A time-lapse shows the prosthesis being printed from a 3D Printer. Once complete, Trip uses the prosthesis to run freely and play comfortably with his new 3D-printed limb.

There are five hero dogs featured in the campaign: Trip, Eve, Samson, and Cleo, who all have a front full-limb prosthesis, and P!nk who uses a cart. All of these dogs feature in social films and a series of wonderful still images photographed by Leeor Wild.

The iPhone 14's LiDAR Scanner can measure distances to create 3D maps of objects or environments, while the TrueDepth camera provides depth data in real-time that allows you to determine the distance of an object from the front-facing camera. Together, they enhance iPhone's augmented reality capabilities to create digital 3D models of real-life objects.

"The fact that something I carry around in my pocket every day can be such an important part of the process of giving my pup better mobility is surreal to me. I definitely take it for granted," said Lydia, Trip's owner.

3DPets are the creators of the advanced Full-Limb prosthetic and aim to grow and help so many more pets than ever before utilising their technology, and ability to create and adapt their devices. Alex and Adam are the co-founders of 3DPets, Alex and Adam are involved in many different facets from customer care right down to fitting devices. They both have BS degrees in Industrial Design with a concentration in healthcare and business.

The campaign will appear on @apple, digital out-of-home, broadcast, YouTube and YouTube pre-roll. The Instagram posts will be posted in collaboration with 3DPets (@3DPets), Leeor Wild (@leeorwild), and India Sleem (@indiasleem).
