In the first week of August, top creative mind Ong Kien Hoe will join TBWA\Shanghai, bringing with him more than 10 years of brand-building experience in the industry.
Kien Hoe joins TBWA\Shanghai as Group Creative Director to impart creative thinking and big ‘Disruptive Ideas’ that challenge conventions into the agency.
Having worked with Saatchi & Saatchi and Ogilvy in both Malaysia and China, his expertise will bring fresh insight to Media Arts – how brands connect with audiences across all touch points – and work towards TBWA\Shanghai’s ambitious vision of becoming the iconic creative company in China.
Kien Hoe’s creative caliber has helped pave the way for global and local companies in China. He has worked some of the world’s biggest brands including Unilever, Lee Jeans, Toyota, Lexus, Volkswagen, Guinness, Tiger Beer, Nippon Paint, Samsung, Sony, Kraft, Mead Johnson, Dumex, Procter and Gamble, Standard Chartered Bank, Starbucks, Telekom Malaysia and Lenscrafters.
Kien Hoe is highly regarded in the industry, having won numerous awards at Cannes Lions, One Show, D&AD, the Clio Awards, ADFEST, Spikes Asia, Australia’s ‘Award’ Awards and London International.
Kien Hoe’s appointment follows the announcement last Friday, July 22, that digital specialist Dwayne Koh joined the team at TEQUILA\Shanghai as Group Creative Director.
Edmund Choe, TBWA\Greater China Co-President and Head of Creative, said, “With the pace of change happening around us every day, innovating and having the right people in the right place is one of the musts to lead the industry. Having Kien Hoe and Dwayne on board will have an enormous effect on other team members by inspiring and challenging the traditionally based minds, changing the way they think to come up with the Disruptive Idea that gets across different forms of Media Arts.“
On his appointment, Kien Hoe commented, “I am very excited to be part of a network that has created some of the best creative work in the world for clients like Apple, Adidas and Playstation. I want to do the same at TBWA\Shanghai – to make it one of the most creative agency networks in the world.”
